Esplanade

SG4

Panoramic view of the Esplanade… pronounced ess-pla-nard and/or ess-pla-nayde locally, but commonly known as “The Durians” in colloquial terms.

It is the current cultural centre showcase of Singapore.

“Durians”? Are those the fruits that people say smell really bad? Or is there another thing it means? Such a nice cityscape there too, so envious.

Lovely view; that certainly looks like an interesting area architecturally.

Thanks everyone for the good comments.

Yes, durian fruit (the sharp prickly thorns on the shell) does emits the strong & distinctive smell. Some like it and some just can’t stand the smell of it.
