Little Guilin 1/5

guilin1
Last weekend, I went for a walk with my child at a nearby disused granite quarry called “Little Guilin”.  We pass it almost everyday and one day my girl asked me what that pool of water was… and the conversation got really interesting when I told her that her grandparents used to work there when the quarry first started out.

This trip was a fulfilment of a promise made at the end of that conversation… I had never been there myself, although I pass the place so very often.

The day wasn’t the bright beautiful weather that we all hoped for… otherwise, we would have gone swimming instead (another unfulfilled promise to a child).  In fact, it looked as if it was threatening to rain but was overcast with a cool breeze.

We ventured around Little Guilin and the following series of pictures some up our trip – on the granite and wild life around.

Monkey business 1/4

1 July 077

Previously, I went to the Nature Reserve at Bt Timah, the tallest hill in SG.  At the foot of the hill, you are greeted by monkeys as a welcome.

Unfortunately, the playground for the monkeys you see in the background is lost as they are now constructing private residential condominiums in its place.

Some things we lose for $$$…

Am I glad that I brought my kids to see these wild monkeys… I managed to keep my promise, as always. :)

Another yum yum shot!!!

mothersdaycake

Oops… I forgot to post… *faint*

Anyway, again at my fav watering hole, I had this special cupcakes meant for mother’s day celebrations… absolutely gorgeous!  just want to share with the world the mouth watering stuff we can find in SG.

Bukom – a flammable island

Bukom

The petrochemical industry is a major part of Singapore’s economic structure.  So much so that a whole southern island (Pulau Bukom aka Bukom Island) has been transformed into a massive cluster of refineries, lighting up the whole island and probably making it one of the most flammable islands around Singapore!

To Budapest, Hungary – Goodbye Singapore…

I am leaving.
I will be starting my new life in Budapest tomorrow…this moment is filled with some mixed of anxiety, some mixed of happiness, some mixed of sadness, as well as some mixed of excitment…Upon describing my feelings like this, I am absolutely not confused. Simply because I know what I want and I am looking forward very much to days to come.

To Budapest. See you all there…

(My good old friend, Chris will be posting daily for the Singapore DP from tomorrow onwards…I will co-author once a blue moon in this photoblog, however you will see me more in Budapest DP ;) )

Fire fire!

A shot of the BBQ Charcoal fire… something you can stare at for a long time really - just to look at the flames dancing in the cool night, with the sounds of the waves crashing and the food sizzling…
