Previously, I went to the Nature Reserve at Bt Timah, the tallest hill in SG. At the foot of the hill, you are greeted by monkeys as a welcome.
Unfortunately, the playground for the monkeys you see in the background is lost as they are now constructing private residential condominiums in its place.
Some things we lose for $$$…
Am I glad that I brought my kids to see these wild monkeys… I managed to keep my promise, as always.

That is a fine photograph of a very sad looking monkey. And no wonder. He has lost his playground to civilization. It is a shame. That’s one of the reasons I welcomed wildlife to my backyard 44 years ago. To provide a place wildlife could rest, drink, sleep and get something to eat and feel perfectly safe.
Today, the final pictures of the series, “A Day in the Life of a Robin,” is online. I couldn’t decide which picture to use. I hope you get to see them.

Just two days ago, the DJs of the Morning Express on Class 95 (hear them on http://www.class95.sg/) were talking about feeding these wild monkeys – a big no-no, as they need to be able to find food in the wild themselves. Then I remembered about my pictures of the monkeys which I took a few months ago.
Have seen your photos! Wished I had the opportunities to take wild life close up like what you do… but the closest wild life I see are snails in the garden or the stray cats around the estate… Maybe some day….
Such a sad monkey. I guess if my home was being gobbled up by someone else i would be too. Great shot with much detail.
He’s a handsome fella!!
How sad the monkey is. He can no longer play. Nice pix, its a good thing that you and your kids encounter them. I brought my children in Singapore Zoo and they encounter with the elephants, snakes, and orang-utangs. I can see on their faces that they are happy to see them live not in pictures.
