Flypast of the Giant National Flag.
Chinhook escorted by Apaches, I think…

SG’s National Day is on 9 August.
But these people are waiting and anticipating the start of the National Day Parade way before 9 August.
???
The parade has grown so popular that over the past years, there are previews and rehersals available for our citizens to attend.
This year is a bit different though…. traditionally, the parade is held at the National Stadium or the Padang. This year, it is at a newly constructed platform in Marina Bay. More later…

While munching my not-so-great-anymore banana prata, I happened to see this signboard.
Quite interesting that they still offer traditional facial treatments by using threads. Not that I am one to try it out but I read and heard about this… and to think they pictured an elderly lady doing the facial treatment. I suppose this is one dying trade skill.
Weird title huh?
Well, due to some unforseen circumstances, I had to be near this eatery and a friend brought me here that afternoon. I had a banana prata and teh peng. Teh peng is iced milk tea… and boy, was it good…. so good, I had two cups of it! Pratas are like Indian pancakes conventionally eaten with curry or just with some coarse grained sugar. Recent years have seen the modernization of such delicacies to crispy pratas and then the addition of condiments like cheese and banana. Out of curiosity and boredom, I tried the banana prata… which was excellent!
This photo was taken on a return trip with my family on a Saturday morning. However, the banana prata and teh peng was not even close to what I had the other day. A bit disappointing but then again, perhaps I should try it on a weekday again – the difference in quality may be due to the volume of operations.
This shops is along Thomson Road… for those who want to try it out.
Kallang Macs is itself an internet cafe!
Pictured here is a shot taken mid-week at 4pm. 50% of the restaurant is swamped with customers all logged onto the internet. SG is one of the highest internet connectivity per unit area… but this place is a haven for all the lost souls to seek refuge on a mid-afternoon weekday.
I was one of them, and I found the haven….
See the colourful slope?
That’s where our National Day Parade would be this year… the National Stadium had its closing ceremony last Saturday night and will be torn down to make way for a new National Stadium within a Sports Hub. There is another story about the National Stadium which I would share another day…
