March 2009 Theme Day: Glass

I was away for the last 2 weeks for my reservists, therefore only got to know of the theme for March only today. As such, i do not have enough time to took one for the theme. In the end i have to go through those photos i took before to find one shot for this theme.

I then realised that i did took a few shots of Wheelock Place during Christmas time. I think that is the best building for this month theme. The entrance is a dome shape that is made up of glass. When you look up from the inside, is like seeing stars above you!! This is easily one of my favorite building along Orchard Road.

Yes, I wondered what you meant by reservists too..is it military?

This is a great choice for theme day, it’s a beautiful sight all lit up.

Good choice … there is normally an archival photo that will fit the bill … I also forgot and as a result took my photo on the last day … it was raining so I too a photo inside showing family treasures … happy theme day.

Loved the building and I can imagine that looking outside from within the building would be awe-inspiring. Happy March.

Thank you for your kind regards, and I am not in Singapore (yet) I will visit in mid 2009 though …

As for ‘Reservist’ it means a person who is a member of a reserve military force. They are otherwise civilians, and in peacetime have careers outside the military. Reservists usually go for training on an annual basis to refresh their skills. This person is usually a former active-duty member of the armed forces, and he remains a reservist either voluntarily, or by obligation. In some countries such as Israel, Singapore, Serbia and Switzerland, reservists are conscripted soldiers who are called up for training and service when necessary.

All male able-bodied Singapore citizens and second-generation permanent residents upon reaching the age of 18 are required to serve National Service. They serve a two-year period as Full Time National Servicemen.

So, this includes NEO and doesn’t apply to Zannnie (since she is female)

I can easily understand why it would be one of your favorites â€” it looks great all lit up like that! Even without the Christmas lights. Wonderful choice for theme day!
