New MRT Platform Barriers

Today was the first time this platform barrier is constructed at Jurong East MRT station. This is to prevent fatal accidents (in the past) where passengers fall on the oncoming train. As result the use of full-height platform screen doors to prevent people from falling onto the path of an on-coming train.

A wonderful idea. I’ve often thought it would be easy to fall off some of the subway platforms in cities I have visited. This looks like a beautiful subway system.

I hope, that such things do not mushroom through out the system…pure waste of the planets resources, perhaps they should have men in white gloves to carry people off and on the train.
They are an eyesore to a wonderful clean transport system,on which i have travelled greatly and have not seen one single incident. It’s like hearding cattle.

If saving lives are more important than i feel it is a good investment. You should see when the platform is full of people either during peak hours or when trains are late due to delays such as mechanical issues (not often) then you will appreciated such a barriers.
