Indochine Waterfront

Singapore

This special restaurant offers views of Singapore River, it’s a fine-dining experience of authentic Indochinese cuisine.
This place is known for its grand backdrop of lotus flower-shaped Czechoslovakian crystal chandeliers, towering Sukothai Buddha statues (as you can see here), rare Shan antiques and the first ever custom-made stainless steel-and leather Ming Dynasty-style chairs.

Sunrise at Seletar airport

Seletar Airport was Singapore’s first international airport. It was completed in 1928. Today, it is still used by many private aircraft for training and services.

This was taken just after sunrise at 6:40am over the weekend. It’s a beautiful and peaceful surrounding and a great way for a stroll.

”I want to participate in Hair for Hope 2010 beacuse when children have cancer and undergo chemotherapy their hair will drop. I hope that the money raised will hit the target and help their families. I hope that people will understand what a child with cancer goes through. I also hope to tell the children with cancer that it is ok to be bald. So I want to help them by shaving my head to make them happy.”-Charlotte Yang

Elgin Bridge by Mark Ng

Mark took this photo of the Elgin Bridge which was built in 1929.

This vehicular bridge cross the Singapore River, linking the Downtown Core to the Singapore River Planning Area located within Singapore’s Central Area. Named after Lord Elgin, Governor-General of India (21 March 1862 – 20 November 1863).

As this was the first bridge across the river, the two roads leading to it were named North Bridge Road and South Bridge Road accordingly.

A Great Emporium Sculptures along Boat Quay

Singapore

Historical stories are told visually and three dimensionally by these statues evident along the Boat Quay. The finance industry went through traditional moneylanding to today’s modern stock market dealers. This sculpture showing the Chinese coolie and the boss (in hokkien ‘towkay’). Do you know who why these men are wearing a queue (or pigtail) in those days?
