Overlooking the Harbourfront


HarbourFront, 港湾 Gǎng Wān, is a district situated in southern Singapore, within the Bukit Merah Planning Area. Harbourfront is also the gateway to Sentosa.

Main thoroughfares HarbourFront include Keppel Way and Telok Blangah Road. Notable buildings in the vicinity include HarbourFront Centre, Singapore Cruise Centre, St James Power Station and VivoCity. HarbourFront is currently being redeveloped into a new business and lifestyle hub.

Chinese Garden @ Jurong Town Singapore by WsBoon


Chinese Garden 裕华园 also commonly known as Jurong Gardens, is a park in Jurong East, Singapore. The garden was built in 1975 and designed by Prof. Yuen-chen Yu, a well-known architect from Taiwan, the Chinese Garden’s concept is based on Chinese gardening art.

The main characteristic is the integration of splendid architectural features with the natural environment. The Chinese Garden is modeled along the northern Chinese imperial style of architecture and landscaping. It is located next to Chinese Garden MRT Station and connected to the adjacent Japanese Garden by a bridge.

Singapore streets were first lit on 1 April 1824 and by 1862, gas from the Kallang Gas Works powered the street lights until the gas-fuelled street lamps were ended in 1956, and electric lights took over.

Energy savings efforts in street lighting continued when Singapore Power implemented a lighting control system which switches on and off according to ambient lighting.

Sunset @ Marina Promenade Singapore


Marina Promenade is a walkway along marina bay. It is a greenbelt from the Esplanade to the Singapore Flyer. It is considered an important part of the The Garden at Marina Centre project. In the future it will connect to the Double Helix Bridge.

The name is also used to refer to the planned walkway to be built in front of the future Marina Bay Sands casino and conventional hall.

MRT


The Mass Rapid Transit or MRT is a rapid transit system that forms the backbone of the railway system in Singapore, spanning the entire city-state. The initial section of the MRT, between Yio Chu Kang Station and Toa Payoh Station, opened in 1987 establishing itself as the second-oldest metro system in Southeast Asia. The network has since grown rapidly as a result of Singapore’s aim of developing a comprehensive rail network as the main backbone of the public transport system in Singapore with an average daily ridership of about 1.952 million.

The MRT has 79 stations and the rail lines have been constructed by the Land Transport Authority.

Quite hard to find the open air market in Singapore, due to hygiene reasons I guess and the humidity level is too high there to prevent contamination of fresh food. Food handling is quite strictly controlled.
