7 must-try FRUITS in SINGAPORE!

Here’s a list of the 7 must-try FRUITS!
1. Durian – pronounced as  ‘dew-ri-anne’ ;)
The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. It has a sweet, creamy and pudding-like flavor.

Be aware that because the smell can be so offensive that many have banned it from public buildings and taxis, MRTs, public buses.

2. Mangosteen

With a semi-hard reddish coating. Enclosed inside the fruit are 4-8 white segments and the taste is sweetly acidic.

3. Rambutans

You can find them in the local grocery stores and fruit markets. It is red with a hairy, spiky skins and incredibly sweet flesh.
4. Longan

A small, round, brown fruit and is served cold on many dessert buffet tables at restaurants.
5. Lychee

You can find this fruit that is canned or fresh.

Lychees are a small fruit with a brittle skin that can be peeled easily. The pulp is fairly clear with one shiny seed inside. Usually peeled and served in large bowls on dessert buffet tables.

6. Mango

Quite an expensive fruit. It can be found in the Singaporean grocery stores or you can find them at some of the “wet” markets. It is fairly large fruit, the size of a narrow grapefruit. The skin is of a greenish red with a sweet orange flesh with a large pit in the center. Slice and eat around the pit.

7. Star Fruit

The skin is a waxy green/yellow, it is oblong and has five angles. When you cut the fruit horizontally, it resembles a star and that’s why its name;) It tastes sweet with an acidic aftertaste.

Best to buy these fruits at wet markets for abundant fresh produce at reasonable prices.
