Clarke Quay Night along Singapore River

The Clarke Quay in Singapore is one of the most visited and also one of the most popular historical sight for it has such a beautiful colour whether in the day or at night. This quay was rather named after a British army officer called ‘Sir Andrew Clarke’. Infact, Singapore is very well visited by the Brits and it is a very affordable destination for them. Well there are many Americans too. If you are seeing this, there is an airline survey opportunity which allows you to get two air tickets. YES, the airline is of your choosing as a reward. And if you want to know what is the catch, it is rather fair. Just fill out three quick question survey. And mind you, this is only available for United States. Even if it is for the US, many people would like to travel there and this is a great way to see different sights there too.

Readers on SingaporeDailyPhoto.com are mostly people who are interested in this unique little place. So today, we will share some little facts about Clarke Quay: It was named after the Singapore’s second Governor in 1896. From 1873 to 1875, Singapore was position as a main port for the Malay states of Perak, Selangor and Sungei Ujong. Now, there is a pedestrian mall on Clarke Quay. In history, small tongkangs boats carry firewood from Indonesia and berthed at this jetty. Firewood trade was primarily a Teochew enterprise, thus its local name ‘cha chun tau’ 柴船头

3 car corner shot

For the F1 fans…here are some action pics that i managed to take last night. Must admit it was not very easy for a first timer at this sport as the cars was travelling very fast at the centre of the Pit grandstand where the speed was in excess on 300km/h and was very near the side wall to the grandstand where sometimes you cannot even see it. Here are around corners shots..

Reflections at Singapore Sentosa

This place is called Sentosa which means ‘Peace and Tranquility’ in the Malay language. It is a popular island resort in Singapore and it has a 2km long sheltered beach. There are two golf courses and two five-star hotels. It is also where you can find the Universal Studios Singapore. Look, Sentosa has become so beautiful in photos by wsboon.

Esplanade houses world-class performance spaces. DNA-inspired: World’s first curved double helix bridge

Marina Sands @ Singapore River_1523

It’s 280 meters long, made of a special stainless steel. The bridge is located beside the floating platform at Marina Bay. It allows pedestrians a direct link to the integrated resort. At its entrance is Singapore’s first art park, the Youth Olympic Park. I like this DNA-inspired bridge, it looks really good at night.
