Esplanade Singapore by Night

Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay is one of the world’s busiest arts centres. Spans all genres, its programs encompass music, dance, theatre and visual arts, with a special emphasis on Asian culture. Esplanade houses world-class performance spaces. Its two main venues are the 1,600-seat Concert Hall, with acoustics by Russell Johnson of ARTEC Consultants, and the 2,000-seat theatre, an adaptation of traditional European opera houses in horseshoe form.

Esplanade

This is a landmark in Singapore and it is called ‘Esplanade‘. This waterside building located on six hectares of waterfront land alongside Marina Bay near the mouth of the Singapore River is purposely built to be the centre for performing arts for the island nation. The ‘Theatres on the Bay’ contains a 1,600 seat concert hall and a 2,000 seat theatre for the performing arts.

Our Esplanade in Singapore is exactly with a large, open, level area ideal for walking like what you can see on this photo (by Ming). Now til 14 June 2009, you can find a series that presents the lighter side of the arts, offering fun and quirky theatre, music and dance programmes. This is in conjunction with the Singapore Arts Festival every year. You can expect unconventional, imaginative work and some eccentric humour!
